This piece is inspired by Ovid's Metamorphoses, an inexhaustible source of tales of transformation, escape and rebirth. Combining baroque music with monologues from theatre and film, it offers a personal exploration of the masks we wear, the identities we shape, the roles we play or those that are assigned to us.
Drawing on a repertoire of operas and cantatas inspired by Greco-Roman mythology, the show invites us to consider what these figures from the past can still say about our present-day lives. Using a scenography in dialogue with ‘textile art’ - upcycled garments assembled in patchwork fashion - the show will explore themes of disguise, dress-up, concealment or unveiling, inner struggle and renewal.
Rather than offering an obvious interpretation, Métamorphoses leaves ample room for the spectator's imagination and, as it weaves meaning through the fragments of a life, opens up a space for reflection on questions of authenticity, performance and play.
