Maredsous Abbey is preparing to be filled with the sounds of Christmas carols. From November 22nd to December 12th, the Basilica of Saint-Benoît will host a Christmas concert festival to raise funds for the restoration work undertaken as part of the ‘Basilique 2030’ project.
On Sunday December 7th at 5 p.m., the Studio Baroque IMEP, led by Sophie Karthäuser, will perform a programme entitled “Chantons Noël”, combining tradition and vocal finesse.
This festival is part of the ‘Basilique 2030’ project, a vast restoration campaign aimed at restoring the Basilica, whose roofs and facades require major work. It is a way of combining beauty, culture and solidarity, in the spirit of openness that characterises Maredsous," emphasises Father Abbot François Lear. All proceeds from these evenings will go towards financing the restoration of the Basilica, a symbol of faith, tradition and peace, but also a place of welcome and encounter for hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
